Description

Not Just for Weekends

The HiDREAM Pet Tent Backpack is a cat backpack that turns into a camping den. Wear it to the vet on Tuesday, unzip the rear tent at a campsite on Saturday — the space grows from 35 × 25 × 42cm to 35 × 59 × 42cm, giving a cat or small dog up to 8kg room to turn, stand and lie flat.

The Base Stays Level on Your Back

Most pet backpacks tip forward once they're on, which slides your pet against the front wall and puts their weight through their knees and joints. An L-shaped internal support holds the floor horizontal while you walk, so your cat sits or lies naturally instead of bracing. Side webbing straps with slider buckles pull the whole bag into a stable triangle, and a composite fibreboard base stops any sag underneath.

Roll-Up Mesh on Three Sides

The top, front and side all open — the top rolls back into a wide mouth that makes loading a reluctant cat far easier, the front curtain rolls up for a full view, and the side window opens just enough to reach in for a scratch or a treat without letting them out. Roll the curtains down and it becomes a quiet, enclosed den for nervous pets.

Slides Onto Your Suitcase, Straps Into the Car

A sleeve across the back fits 24–28" luggage handles, so you're not carrying both bags through the terminal. The same sleeve takes a seatbelt, which holds the backpack steady on a car seat rather than letting it slide on every corner.

Built for the Person Carrying It

A 4cm air-mesh back panel and S-shaped padded shoulder straps spread the load across your shoulders and keep air moving where the bag meets your back. At 1616g empty, most of what you're carrying is your pet, not the carrier.

Features

1. Rear Expansion Tent

Unzip the back and the bag grows from 35 × 25 × 42cm to 35 × 59 × 42cm. Pets up to 8kg can turn, stand, sit and lie flat rather than stay curled.

2. L-Shaped Stability Support

Keeps the base horizontal while the bag is on your back, so your pet isn't tipped forward. That protects their kneecaps and joints and lets them sit or lie comfortably for longer.

3. Side Webbing with Slider Buckles

Adjust the tension on either side to pull the bag into a stable triangle — the base stays steady and the shape holds once your pet is inside.

4. Roll-Up Mesh on Three Sides

The top rolls back into a wide loading mouth, the front curtain rolls up for a full view, and the side window opens for feeding or a scratch. Roll them all down for a quiet, enclosed den.

5. 4cm Air-Mesh Back Panel

An ergonomic shock-absorbing panel with a central mesh structure keeps air moving where the bag meets your back, so it doesn't get hot or sticky.

6. S-Shaped Padded Shoulder Straps

Sandwich mesh wraps both sides of each strap so they follow your shoulder contour. The wide cut spreads weight and reduces pressure on long carries.

7. Luggage Sleeve on the Back

Fits 24–28" suitcase handles so you can slide the backpack on instead of carrying both. In the car, thread a seatbelt through the same sleeve to hold the bag in place.

8. Internal Fibre-Rod Frame

A quality skeleton keeps the backpack square and upright so it won't slump or deform over time, and a composite fibreboard base stops any sag underfoot.

9. Anti-Escape Zips Throughout

Every opening uses an anti-escape zip design so a determined pet can't nose it open from the inside. A safety clip pairs with a collar or harness for a second layer.

10. Storage Where You Need It

A large front pocket holds treats, toys or a power bank, curtain buckles keep the rolled mesh tidy, and a ground mat under the tent keeps the base off the dirt.

FAQs

Q1: How is this different from HiDREAM's other tent carriers?

A: This is the backpack version with a luggage sleeve, and it's the lightest of the three at 1616g. The MAX Expandable Cat Carrier Tote is carried on one shoulder and takes pets up to 10kg. The Dual-Expandable Tent Pet Backpack expands at both ends with three separate compartments for multi-pet households. Pick this one if you walk with a suitcase or want the base to stay level on your back.

Q2: What does the L-shaped support actually do?

A: Most backpacks tilt forward once they're on your shoulders, which slides your pet against the front wall and pushes their weight through their knees. The internal L-frame holds the floor horizontal as you walk, so your cat can sit or lie normally instead of bracing against a slope.

Q3: Can I take it on a plane?

A: At 42cm tall it is above the under-seat height most airlines allow for pets in cabin, so it isn't designed for in-cabin travel. The luggage sleeve is for moving through terminals and stations alongside your suitcase. For flights, see our Expandable Cat Carrier for 2 Cats, and always confirm carrier dimensions with your airline first.

Q4: Will my cat fit?

A: It suits cats and small dogs up to 8kg. With the rear tent open the floor runs 59cm deep and there is 42cm of headroom, so most adult cats can stand and turn around. Measure your pet from chest to tail base and from floor to shoulder, then allow 2–3cm.

Q5: Is the tent usable outdoors on the ground?

A: Yes. The tent section includes a ground mat that keeps the base off the dirt, so you can set it down at a campsite or in a park. Keep your pet supervised and clipped to the internal safety clip whenever the mesh is open.

Q6: How do I get a reluctant cat inside?

A: Roll the top curtain right back — the wide opening lets you lower a cat in rather than pushing them through a narrow door, which is where most struggles happen. Leaving the bag open at home with a familiar blanket inside for a few days helps too.

Q7: Can my pet open the zips from inside?

A: Every opening uses an anti-escape zip design to make that far harder, and an internal safety clip attaches to a collar or harness as a second layer. No carrier is completely escape-proof, so keep the clip attached whenever you're outdoors.

Q8: How do I use it in the car?

A: Thread the seatbelt through the luggage sleeve on the back and buckle up, which stops the bag sliding on corners. Note that a soft carrier is a restraint aid, not a crash-tested safety device.

Q9: How do I clean it?

A: Wipe the nylon shell with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then air dry in the shade. Don't machine wash the bag or soak the fibreboard base.

Q10: Do you ship across Australia?

A: Yes — HiDREAM Australia ships Australia-wide, including all metro and regional addresses.
