One Bag That Changes How You Carry Them

Most people end up owning two carriers: a backpack for the longer trips and a crossbody for the quick ones. The HiDREAM Convertible Pet Backpack does both. Unclip one shoulder strap and the X-cross backpack becomes a single-strap crossbody sling — same bag, same pet inside, no repacking.

X-Cross Straps So One Shoulder Isn't Doing All the Work

Worn as a backpack, the straps cross in an X across your back and spread the weight evenly instead of digging into one side. Both straps are wrapped in sandwich-style breathable mesh and cut wide to follow your shoulder contour, which matters once you're carrying a pet of up to 7kg for more than a few minutes. The bag itself is only 742g, so most of what you feel is your pet, not the carrier.

A Top Opening That Closes Down to 2.5cm

The drawstring top opens for a head-out ride and cinches all the way down to 2.5cm, with an adjustable limiter buckle to hold whichever setting suits your pet. Sensitive cats get a snug, mostly-closed bag; confident ones get to look around. Side webbing straps adjust the bag's shape and the front opening adjusts separately, so you can tune it once and leave it.

A Mesh Window They Can Hide Behind

The front panel is a zip-open mesh window: unzip it for natural cross-flow ventilation, zip the flap closed when your pet would rather not see the street. It's a small thing that makes a real difference for shy cats on their first few outings.

Place two fingers between the tape and your pet’s body to ensure a comfy fit.

Q1: How is this different from HiDREAM's other backpacks and crossbody carriers?

A: This is the convertible one — it's the only bag in the range that switches between a two-strap backpack and a single-strap crossbody. The Head-Out Cat Backpack is a dedicated head-out chest or back carrier. The Large Crossbody Pet Travel Bag and Mountain Series Crossbody Tote are crossbody-only. The Puha Series Pet Carrier Backpack is backpack-only. Choose this one if you want both carrying styles from a single bag.

Q2: How do I switch between backpack and crossbody?

A: Unclip one shoulder strap at the buckle and let the remaining strap run diagonally across your body. Clip it back on to return to X-cross backpack mode. Nothing needs unpacking and your pet can stay inside.

Q3: What size pet does it fit?

A: Cats and small dogs up to 7kg. The bag measures 43 × 19 × 42cm. Measure your pet lying curled and compare against those dimensions rather than going by weight alone — a long-bodied 5kg cat and a compact 7kg dog sit very differently.

Q4: Can my pet put their head out the top?

A: Yes — open the drawstring wide enough for their head and lock it there with the limiter buckle. Set it just past their neck so their shoulders can't follow, and always clip the internal safety tether to a collar or harness as a second layer.

Q5: My cat is nervous — can I close it up completely?

A: The drawstring closes down to 2.5cm and the front mesh window has a zip flap you can shut. Between the two you can give a sensitive cat a mostly enclosed, low-stimulation space while air still moves through the mesh.

Q6: Does it stay comfortable on a longer walk?

A: The bag is 742g empty and the X-cross straps split the weight across both shoulders. Wide padded straps wrapped in breathable sandwich mesh handle the contact points. For the longest walks, backpack mode will be more comfortable than crossbody.

Q7: Will the bag sag under my pet?

A: There's a composite fibreboard panel in the base to keep the floor flat, so your pet has something solid underfoot instead of a sagging surface. Side webbing straps also pull the bag into shape once they're inside.

Q8: Can I take it on a plane?

Q9: How do I clean it?
